How can we help?

Criminal Defense

A criminal investigation or charge can have lasting consequences for your freedom, finances, career, and reputation. If you have been contacted by law enforcement, arrested, or summoned to court, do not face the legal system alone. The decisions you make early in a case can have a significant impact on the outcome. At Power Legal, we work to protect your rights, explain your options, and pursue the best possible outcome for your case. We represent clients in matters involving:

  • DWI / DUI
  • Domestic Violence Charges
  • Drug-Related Offenses
  • Property Crimes
  • Traffic Violations
  • Misdemeanor Cases
  • Felony Cases

Divorce

Divorce is stressful, even when both parties agree on the major issues. Having an attorney involved from the beginning can help protect your interests, avoid costly mistakes, and make the process more efficient. New Mexico is a community property state with unique laws governing the division of assets, debts, and other important rights. Our attorneys can assist with:

  • Identifying and dividing marital assets and debts
  • Protecting financial accounts, investments, retirement accounts, and other property
  • Pursuing or defending against claims for spousal support (alimony)
  • Investigating missing assets, hidden income, or improper transfers of property
  • Resolving disputes involving family pets
  • Child custody, timesharing, child support, and other matters involving children (See Family Law Section)

Family Law

Family law matters often involve the most important people in your life—your children. Whether you are establishing custody, seeking parenting time, addressing child support issues, or navigating another family law matter, experienced legal guidance can help protect your rights and your family's future. We can help with:

  • Establishment, modification, and enforcement of Parenting plans (custody orders)
  • Relocation disputes
  • Paternity matters
  • Establishment, modification, and enforcement of Child support
  • Adoption, including stepparent adoption
  • Guardianship proceedings
  • Grandparent visitation rights

Domestic Violence

Allegations of domestic violence can have immediate and lasting consequences. A domestic violence investigation, arrest, criminal charge, or protective order can affect your freedom, employment, housing opportunities, firearm rights, and even future custody proceedings involving your children. We can help with:

  • Domestic violence criminal charges, including misdemeanor and felony offenses
  • Orders of Protection from Domestic Violence (Restraining Orders)
  • Temporary custody and parenting time issues arising from domestic violence allegations or protective orders

Protective order cases move quickly. Contact us as soon as possible to discuss your rights and options.

Mediation

Mediation can be an effective and cost-efficient way to resolve disputes without the expense and uncertainty of litigation. Whether you have reached agreement on most issues and need help resolving the remaining details, or are facing more complex disagreements, mediation can help parties find practical solutions and move forward.

At Power Legal, our attorneys have successfully mediated a wide range of disputes throughout New Mexico, including property division, parenting plans, child custody, child support, and other family law matters. We provide a neutral and structured process designed to help parties reach informed and lasting agreements.

Guardian Ad Litems

Power Legal offers Guardian ad Litem (GAL) services for children involved in family law and guardianship proceedings. As court-appointed Guardians ad Litem, our attorneys advocate for the best interests of children by conducting independent investigations and providing recommendations to the court.

GAL appointments may involve evaluating custody and parenting time arrangements, relocation requests, educational and medical decisions, guardianships, and other matters affecting a child's safety, stability, and well-being. We are committed to helping courts make informed decisions that protect children and support their long-term success.
